I have been slowed down with my weaving because I have been building a new web site. This new web site has a blog page titled, "Naaxiin (Chilkat) Robe In The Making". This will be my last post with this site. Please follow me to: http://evelynweaver.com/Thank you so much for you interest in my art. Haa'wa.

The side faces now have teeth and lips. Are they smiling or grimacing at me. Each day I am sure I will see them in their many moods.

The nose is completed under the eye and the yellow form is also continued down.

The right face nose is now being formed.

Carrie Anne my eldest daughter a naaxiin weaver also.
My very capable daughter Carrie Anne Vanderhoop Bellis came up to Masset and was able to assist me. I was at the eyes of the side faces so it was perfect timing.
Here is the eye of the left side face that Carrie completed. I am so happy this eye was done by her. I now feel that the two beings are charged with separate spirit as they watch my progress.
Now I will never be alone as I weave the remainder of this robe. Carrie went back to Vancouver but she added so much by completing the left eye.

The nose is started by placing the braids where they follow the curve created by the two strand turns and weaving.

yippie--the first circle complete!!

The eye and nose are being formed, with the weaving of the shape above.

Three strand braided twining of first white then black surround the completed eyebrow form.

There is a two strand around single warps placed between the three strand braids and the future face mask braid. This is unusual because it is common to have a two strand around two warps not one, but this is what the original weaver did and so will I.

I am starting the blue mask and forming the eye of this side face. The blue/green is a different color then the previous green/blue used because again the original robe is created this way. I love this rich blue and I am happy for this unique difference.
